A delegation from North China's Shanxi province attended the 8th China-Eurasia Expo held in Urumqi, Xinjiang from June 26 to 30, aiming to demonstrate the achievements of Shanxi's transformation and development through exhibitions, industrial matchmaking, project negotiations, and other activities.

This expo has four exhibition areas, namely, investment and cooperation, international sector, characteristic industries, and equipment manufacturing, attracting more than 1,900 enterprises and institutions from 50 countries, regions, and international organizations, as well as China's 30 provinces and cities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and 14 prefectures and cities in the autonomous regions to participate.

The Shanxi exhibition area is divided into three sections – investment and cooperation exhibition area, agricultural products and food exhibition area, and equipment manufacturing exhibition area. A total of 38 enterprises were selected from more than 70 enterprises in the province to showcase themselves and their products in fields such as time-honored brands, intangible cultural heritage, equipment manufacturing, light industry and textile, and agricultural products and food in the province.

The China-Eurasia Expo helps China carry out exchanges and cooperation with Asian and European countries and jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In the first five months of this year, Shanxi's foreign trade with countries involved in the BRI reached 34.2 billion yuan ($4.71 billion), a year-on-year increase of 27.1 percent and accounting for 46.3 percent of the province's total imports and exports.
