Shanxi showcases its cultural charm via museum innovation
In recent years, cultural and museum institutions across North China's Shanxi province have continuously innovated their exhibition, promotion, and social education methods, allowing more people to experience China's rich history, culture, and nature.
After three years of renovation and upgrading, the Shanxi Museum has launched a new exhibition model known as "physical presentation+in-depth interpretation+digital extension". The basic display in the museum is centered on the theme "Soul of Shanxi", consisting of seven historical and cultural special themes and five artistic themes. The number of exhibited cultural relics has increased to 3,431, and through QR codes, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the stories behind these cultural relics.
In 2021, the Shanxi Natural History Museum launched a mobile science education exhibition called "Mysterious Earth", integrating earth science, petrology, paleontology, and botany. In a modular, lightweight, and aesthetically pleasing exhibition format, it provides free door-to-door exhibitions to schools in Taiyuan's urban area and surrounding counties and districts.
In addition, using cloud services, artificial intelligence, VR and other technological means, Shanxi has built up a digital museum of cultural relics, which gathers movable and immovable cultural relics and provides public services such as inquiry, browsing, appreciation, and interaction.
"In the future, Shanxi's cultural and museum institutions will continue to promote the revitalization and utilization of cultural relics to meet the diverse needs of the public and increase Shanxi's cultural charm," said Cheng Shulin, deputy director of the Shanxi Culture Relics Bureau.
