Shanxi accelerates construction of key water conservancy projects
Updated: 2024-06-20
This year, North China's Shanxi province has been making strong progress in its water conservancy efforts, with water conservancy departments at all levels shouldering their responsibility to organize and implement key water conservancy projects and treasury bond projects to a high standard.
According to the statistics from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Water Resources, from January to May this year, the province earmarked an investment of 11.20 billion yuan ($1.54 billion) for water conservancy construction, a year-on-year increase of 17 percent, and allocated 5.93 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent.
At a meeting on June 18, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Water Resources emphasized the need to further accelerate the construction progress of water conservancy projects. Projects that have already started construction should strengthen fund utilization management and accelerate fund payment progress while ensuring quality and safety. Work plans should be formulated for projects that have not yet started, so as to accelerate the resolution of issues that hinder project progress.
Meanwhile, it is necessary to plan key projects within the province based on local circumstances, establish a database of key engineering projects, and proactively connect with relevant departments to strive for early project funding.
In addition, engagement with statistical departments should be strengthened to establish a mechanism for sharing statistical information of water related projects, so as to enhance the data quality management throughout the entire water conservancy statistical process.
