5th Shanxi Provincial Vocational Skills Competition kicks off

The 5th Shanxi Provincial Vocational Skills Competition and the 3rd National Skills Competition Shanxi Selection Competition opened at the Shanxi Xiaohe International Convention Exhibition Center in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, on June 18. 

Jin Xiangjun, deputy secretary of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and governor of Shanxi, attended the opening ceremony and announced the start of the competition.

Running from June 18 to 30, the vocational skills competition features 46 categories, including blockchain application operation, additive manufacturing, and robot welding technology, with a total of 2,471 people participating.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of participants and referees took an oath. Subsequently, Jin Xiangjun and others visited the exhibition areas of Taiyuan, Yangquan and other cities to listen to introductions to the cultivation of highly skilled talents and skills training.

Jin emphasized the need to adapt to industrial development and changes in employment structure, fully leverage skills competitions to improve training for skilled talents, and build an integrated system of industry and education, so as to enable skilled talents to give full play to their abilities.

In recent years, Shanxi has striven to develop vocational and technical education, and has established a policy system for vocational skills training, evaluation, competition, and information management, thereby promoting employment and increasing incomes. There are currently over 5.71 million skilled workers in the province, including over 1.76 million highly skilled talents.
