North China's Shanxi province is a place with abundant cultural resources related to the Great Wall and a key construction area for the Great Wall National Cultural Park.

Shanxi's Great Wall is mainly distributed in 39 counties in eight cities, including Datong, Shuozhou, Xinzhou, and Yangquan. With a total length of 1,410.06 kilometers, it accounts for nearly 10 percent of the country's total Great Wall remains, ranking third among China's provinces.

The construction of the Shanxi section of the Great Wall National Cultural Park includes one control and protection area, 39 themed exhibition areas, 20 cultural and tourism integration areas, and 95 traditional utilization areas or villages.

Since the start of construction on the Great Wall National Cultural Park, Shanxi has used the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) within the province to connect various cultural relics and natural ecological resource points along the line, comprehensively showcasing the cultural landscape and ecological value of the Great Wall.

Meanwhile, the province is fully leveraging the "Great Wall No 1 Tourist Highway" brand to form a distinctive cultural landscape belt around the Great Wall with local characteristics, which better reflects the openness and public welfare attributes of the Great Wall National Cultural Park.

Furthermore, the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park within the province has helped improve the living environment of most traditional villages and promoted the development of rural tourism featuring agricultural sightseeing, handicraft workshops, characteristic homestays, and farmhouse entertainment.

Moving forward, Shanxi will continue to protect and repair the Great Wall and will accelerate the development of related cultural and tourism products, striving to contribute to the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park.
