The 2024 "Travel to China, A Better Life" Travel with the Solar Terms – Shanxi Summer Tourism Themed Promotion Event was launched on June 5 at the Lanshangen Scenic Area, a national tourism and leisure district in Yuncheng, North China's Shanxi province.
This event was jointly organized by the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province, the CPC Yuncheng Municipal Committee, and the Shanxi Provincial Government. Nearly 200 officials from provincial-level cultural and tourism departments across the country, as well as experts and media representatives from the cultural and tourism industry, participated in the event.
In November 2016, the 24 solar terms were officially included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Shanxi is one of the points of origin of the 24 solar terms and combines them with folk customs, cuisine, and health preservation to launch related tourism routes and products. This not only enriches tourism, but also promotes traditional culture.
At the launch ceremony, the province's video promoting Grain in Ear – the 9th of the 24 solar terms, deeply explained that the solar term best represents agricultural culture among the 24 solar terms. It explored the seasonal scenery, production and life, folk customs, and specialty cuisine related to the solar term, allowing guests to fully experience the integration of Shanxi lifestyle aesthetics and traditional solar terms.
Meanwhile, a total of 368 summer seasonal delicacies and 84 tourist routes were recommended by various attending regions, providing a practical guide for tourists to deeply experience the scenic areas and local specialty cuisines during the summer.
