Shanxi launches Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Month

To welcome the upcoming "Cultural and Natural Heritage Day" in 2024, North China's Shanxi province has launched the Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Month, themed on "Protecting Intangible Cultural Heritage, Carrying Forward History, and Charting a New Era". It includes more than 100 activities.
Spanning from June 7 to mid-July, the event will showcase achievements in intangible cultural heritage protection in the province and spread public awareness of intangible cultural heritage through exhibitions, performances, and lectures.
During the event, the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province will reveal typical cases of intangible cultural heritage protection practices in the province, typical cases of intangible cultural heritage workshops, and typical cases of deep integration of intangible cultural heritage and tourism.
Furthermore, experts, scholars, and representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritage will hold 10 in-depth sharing sessions to interpret intangible cultural heritage from the perspective of life aesthetics.
Meanwhile, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage markets, and intangible cultural heritage handicraft classes will also be held, further increasing public understanding and awareness of intangible cultural heritage.
In recent years, the province has achieved impressive progress in the protection of intangible cultural heritage, and the protection and inheritance system has been continuously improved. Shanxi currently has 182 national level representative intangible cultural heritage items and 149 national level representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage.
