Updated: 2024-06-06
In recent years, North China's Shanxi province has been working to promote the construction of digital infrastructure such as 5G base stations and gigabit optical network, continuously expanding the number of users connected to the network.
In special fields such as metallurgy, equipment manufacturing, and coal chemical industry, a number of influential 5G industrial internet platforms have been constructed. Meanwhile, more than 10 key scenic spots provide access to 5G online scenery, while some county-level medical groups have provided access to 5G remote ultrasound and remote care, making it possible to sightsee and receive medical services without leaving the house.
In addition, 5G technology has provided a stable transmission highway for the digitalization and modernization of governance, involving everything from home testing for the elderly and digital security to the construction of new pilot smart cities.
At present, the total number of 5G base stations in the province has reached 99,000, and the construction goal of 5G base stations laid out in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) has been completed two years in advance. This means there are approximately 28.4 5G base stations per 10,000 people in the province, ranking first among the six central provinces.
