According to the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the large-scale wheat harvest in North China's Shanxi province will last from June 1 to June 20.

The winter wheat planting area in the province this year is 8.22 million mu (548,200 hectares), including 3.74 million mu of dry land and 4.48 million mu of paddy land. The winter wheat in the north of the province is currently in the filling period, while in the south it's in the flowering filling period, with strong seedling growth and a bountiful harvest to come.

Since the sowing of wheat began, the light, temperature, and water conditions in the wheat planting area have worked well, with no major natural disasters. The growth at each stage is mostly better than the average level over the past five years.

During the three summer months, the province is expected to employ 350,000 pieces of agricultural machinery, with an expected machine harvest of 8.1 million mu of wheat and a planned machine replanting of 5 million mu of corn. The machine yield and sowing rate is expected to exceed 99 percent. 

Furthermore, the province will establish 24-hour duty telephones at the provincial, city and county levels, open a "green channel" for agricultural machinery, and issue 3,000 cross regional work permits. 

Shanxi will also organize 476 emergency service teams for agricultural machinery and establish 20 regional agricultural machinery service centers and 11 regional agricultural disaster relief centers.
