Shanxi's swimmer wins slot for upcoming Paris Olympic Games

Recently, Yang Chang from North China's Shanxi province won the second place in the women's 100m breaststroke at the 2024 National Swimming Championships, securing a spot to compete in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 2024 National Swimming Championships was held in late April in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, and the results of the event will serve as part of the selection criteria for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. From schedule settings to competition rules, the competition closely mirrors the Paris Olympic Games, which is set to take place three months later. It serves as a crucial pre-Olympic training and selection event for the Chinese swimming team.

In this competition, Yang competed in the women's 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, and the 4×100m medley relay. In the women's 100m breaststroke final, Yang secured second place with a time of 1 min 6.39 sec, meeting the Olympic qualifying time for the women's 100m breaststroke.
Yang Chang, a 22-year-old from Jincheng city, won the gold medal in the women's 100m breaststroke and the silver medal in the 50m breaststroke at the 2023 National Swimming Championships. Furthermore, she secured the fourth place in the 50m breaststroke and won the bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou in 2023.
