Taiyuan adds 102 trains during May Day holiday

To address increased travel demand during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, China Railway Taiyuan Group Co plans to add 102 passenger trains, setting a record for the highest-ever number of additional trains during the May Day holiday.

During the holiday, China Railway Taiyuan Group Co is expected to receive an average of 350,000 passengers daily, representing an increase of over 70 percent compared to normal days. Most passengers are travelling to and from Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Qingdao, as well as tourism cities within Shanxi such as Datong and Yuncheng.

The China Railway Taiyuan Group Co will dynamically and flexibly adjust transportation capacity to meet passengers' travel needs. All 92 sets of electric multiple units (EMUs) under its jurisdiction will be put into operation, with 71 additional high-speed EMU trains running between Taiyuan and other cities, including Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Qingdao.

At the same time, an additional 31 normal speed trains will be operated to destinations such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hohhot, and Dalian, as well as to popular tourist cities with attractions like the Yungang Grottoes, the Ancient City of Pingyao, the Mianshan Mountain, and the Yuncheng Salt Lake. 

In addition, railway stations in Datong, Yuncheng and Pingyao county under the group's administration have collaborated with local transportation and tourism authorities to provide passengers with extended services such as shuttle bus and taxi services. The railway station of the Ancient City of Pingyao, for example, has introduced bilingual ticketing and guidance services to facilitate travel for international tourists visiting Pingyao.
