Shanxi funds culture, tourism, health and wellness industries

In 2024, North China's Shanxi province is set to allocate 568.84 million yuan ($78.57 million) in funds to support the development of its culture, tourism, and health and wellness industries. 

The province aims to financially reward and subsidize the development of demonstration areas and clusters related to culture, tourism, and health and wellness industries. 

The funds have set aside 345 million yuan for the development of the culture, tourism, and health and wellness industries; 12 million yuan for building more restrooms in tourist areas; 25.8 million yuan for tourism flight route subsidies; and 40 million yuan for attracting visitors to Shanxi. Another 14.51 million yuan will be used to organize regular art performances; 11.33 million yuan in provincial subsidies will be used for ticket discounts to A-level tourist attractions; and 120.2 million yuan will be used for publicity and promotion.

In 2023, the province allocated 634.22 million yuan to promote the development of its culture, tourism, and health and wellness industries. This included rewards for the 15 successfully established demonstration zones, such as the Yunqiu Mountain scenic area and the Yunzhonghe scenic area, financial support for three major projects, and funds for promoting the establishment of culture, tourism, health and wellness clusters in 10 counties (county-level cities and districts).
