During the two sessions, the Shanxi delegation to the National People's Congress and the members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference jointly proposed the establishment of the China (Shanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The proposal aims to promote open reform, development, and innovation in Shanxi. It is also significant for accelerating the high-quality transformation and development of Shanxi.

Specifically, this proposal is conducive to addressing insufficient, unbalanced, and uncoordinated development in Shanxi. Once implemented, this proposal will create an enhanced open economic system, accelerate industrial transformation, as well as construct an innovation ecosystem.

Shanxi has the foundation and conditions to establish a pilot free trade zone. By deploying a series of measures to foster market entities and enhance its business environment, the province has forged a collection of institutional innovations.

At the same time, through the thorough implementation of an innovation-driven development strategy and the establishment of a top-tier innovation ecosystem, the province has created stronger impetus for transformation and development.

Positioning its development zones as the primary arena for transformation and growth, Shanxi has expanded its platforms for industrial concentration. Furthermore, by actively engaging in the Belt and Road Initiative, integrating into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region's development, and forging deep connections with the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the province has enhanced its level of opening-up.
