Linfen city in North China's Shanxi province held a book exhibition and donation event at the Family History Library in Utah, the United States, on Feb 29.
Linfen donated over 78 types of books, totaling more than 100 volumes, to the Family History Library, which has the most extensive collection of original and microfilmed Chinese genealogy in North America.
The donations included genealogies, yearbooks, cultural books, as well as materials showcasing Linfen's history and family culture. The city is known as the "ancestral home of the Chinese" because it has the largest, longest, and most extensive official migration in Chinese history.
Seeking cultural roots has emerged as a new channel to foster people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States.
Within the framework of cooperation between Shanxi province and Utah, Linfen and Utah have formally launched a cooperative project for the construction of digital cultural libraries in both locations, laying the groundwork for the further development of the Chinese genealogy certification system.
