The Lyuliang Arbitration Commission based in Lyuliang, North China's Shanxi province, and the Africa International Arbitration Center recently signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The Africa International Arbitration Center, approved by the Government of the Republic of Malawi on May 11, 2023, is an international arbitration institution aimed at providing comprehensive legal services and safeguarding the rights and interests of Chinese-funded enterprises in the countries and regions involved in Belt and Road Initiative. Its primary business area covers 50 countries in Africa, with its business scope spanning over 170 countries globally.

Fredrick Malire, political counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in China, attended the signing ceremony. He expressed that Africa and China have a long history of cultural exchange and friendly economic and cultural relations. This cooperation will provide crucial support for the Chinese enterprises that are investing overseas and engaging in international trade. It aims to effectively address disputes that arise from various business activities.

Malire hopes that the Africa International Arbitration Center and the Lyuliang Arbitration Commission will conduct arbitration fairly and impartially, effectively promoting in-depth exchanges between Malawi and China under different legal systems. This cooperation is set to bring greater benefits to the people of both countries, as well as Africa as a whole.

Both parties have reached a cooperation intention in the training of legal talents in international law, arbitration cooperation, and academic exchange and training.

This partnership represents an effective exploration in the construction of Lyuliang's foreign-related legal system.
