The Shanxi Museum of Geology in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, was recently renamed the Shanxi Natural History Museum.

It's the only comprehensive earth science museum in Shanxi that aims to popularize knowledge on natural resources. Currently, the museum houses over 15,000 items, including local rocks, minerals, rare fossils, as well as mineral treasures from around the world, many of which are extremely precious.

Curator Shi Jianru said that the renaming will serve as an opportunity to further solidify the museum's role in collecting, researching, protecting, and showcasing the natural resources.
