An archaeological exhibition of cultural relics related to the Chinese dragon opened at the Shanxi Archaeological Museum in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Feb 2. 

More than 130 dragon-themed relics are on display at the exhibit, all of which were unearthed in Shanxi. These relics include bronze, jade, gold, ceramics, stone carvings and murals. They vividly illustrate the historical evolution of the Chinese dragon based on archaeological findings.

Drawing from field excavations and research conducted by the Shanxi Institute of Archaeology, the exhibition allows the audience to tangibly experience the significant role of archaeology in showcasing the splendor of Chinese civilization and Chinese dragon culture. 

On opening day, visitors were engaged in hands-on activities to learn about the depiction of dragons across different periods. Attendees also received Chinese New Year prints that were created by the renowned Shanxi artist Meng Yangyu.
