Trade between Shanxi, BRI countries on upward trajectory
Updated: 2023-10-18
The value of foreign trade between North China's Shanxi province and the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) from January to September reached 51.66 billion yuan ($7.07 billion), up 3.3 percent year-on-year.
To facilitate the clearance of products, Taiyuan Customs has established a dedicated customs window, a specialized team for cargo clearance, and a consultation service. These efforts have ensured the efficient clearance of goods and enhanced connectivity with major ports at countries involved in the BRI.
This year, Shanxi has exported its leading agricultural products, tableware, food products, furniture, and new materials via freight train services to countries including Germany, Spain, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
Moreover, during the first three quarters, the customs authority has regulated 61 outbound China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains loaded with goods valued at 1.17 billion yuan. It has also expanded the province's freight train service to 27 cities in 11 countries involved in the BRI, and showcased Shanxi's commitment to international cooperation and exchange.
