During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6, Shanxi province's athletes achieved remarkable success at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

On Oct 2, 21-year-old Li Yajie from Datong city in Shanxi won gold in the women's 1m springboard final with a score of 317.55. This victory was not only China's fifth gold in diving at the 19th Asian Games but also the fifth gold for Shanxi athletes at the event.

Li has shown exceptional athletic talent since childhood. In November 2021, she joined the Chinese national diving team and won the women's 1m springboard final at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, becoming the first female world champion in diving from Shanxi, and obtained a silver medal in the same program at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.

In a post-match interview at the 19th Asian Games, Li stated that her next goal is to explore her strength in the 3m springboard.
