Shanxi Bethune Hospital will be designated as a national emergency medical rescue base in North China's Shanxi province, according to an announcement by the Shanxi Development and Reform Commission on Sept 14. 

The commission recently organized a work promotional meeting for the construction of the national emergency medical rescue base at the hospital, focusing on the construction goals and plans. 

The hospital was required to coordinate the building work, information technology, and equipment configuration, as well as enhance both medical and rescue capabilities, so as to enhance the province's ability to respond to emergencies and improve the emergency medical rescue as soon as possible. 

Recently, the National Health Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly promoted the construction of national emergency medical rescue bases with related projects having been planned in 31 provinces.
