11 Shanxi athletes to compete in 19th Asian Games
North China's Shanxi province will send 11 athletes to participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, from Sept 23 to Oct 8.
Two coaches from Shanxi have also been selected to join the 1,329-member Chinese sports delegation, which was announced in Beijing on Sept 12.
The young athletes from Shanxi, aged 15 to 33, will represent China in the swimming, diving, artistic gymnastics, trampoline, shooting, athletics, taekwondo, skateboarding, and Go competitions. Among them, eight will make their debut at the Asian Games.
This year's Asian Games, hosted by Hangzhou with the cooperation of Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing, and Jinhua, will have 40 major events. The Chinese sports delegation, consisting of 886 athletes, will compete in 38 major events, excluding kabaddi and cricket.
