The Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour is taking place at the China International Chemical Industry Fair in Shanghai on Sept 4-6.

Some 42 companies from Shanxi province are showcasing hundreds of products at the province's exhibition area, including chemical equipment, chemicals, and fertilizers. The main focus, however, is on current petroleum and chemical industry products, materials, and technological equipment. 

Coal chemical products account for a significant proportion of the exhibition, reflecting the transformation of Shanxi's coal industry from one that just delivers fuel to a supplier of both raw materials and end products. 

"Other exhibition areas are individually represented by companies, but entering the Shanxi exhibition area is like going into a supermarket specializing in chemical products. It allows professional buyers to have a one-stop understanding of Shanxi's advantages in coal chemicals," said Xu Yue, a buyer from Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province. 

Shanxi has also organized trade and economic exchange activities for trade promotion associations and development zones in such cities as Shuozhou, Datong, Yuncheng, and Yangquan during the fair. 

Wang Xiu, deputy president of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, expressed his intention to showcase the advantages of Shanxi's traditional industries and enable businesspeople to have a deeper understanding of the province's chemical products at the event.
