Shanxi achieves milestone in cancer medical development
A series of necessary measures and achievements related to the construction of the Shanxi National Cancer Regional Medical Center in North China's Shanxi province was officially announced on July 30, marking a milestone in the center's development.
On that day, the Clinical Trial Ward at the Good Clinical Practice Center of Shanxi Cancer Hospital was launched. With the guidance of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the ward will explore new medical management and development models, promote the transformation of clinical research, and enhance the research capabilities for new drug clinical trials. This will contribute to approving more innovative drugs and improving the province's clinical and research standards for cancer treatment.
The Shanxi Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center, the Shanxi Pelvic Complex Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and the Shanxi Interventional Therapy Center were approved for establishment by the Shanxi Health Commission on the same day.
The Shanxi Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in the Shanxi region, while also promoting the growth of primary healthcare facilities.
The Shanxi Pelvic Complex Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center will integrate the disciplines of colorectal, orthopedic, urology, and gynecology to form a team that performs complex surgeries using high technologies. This center aims to become an integrated medical platform for pelvic complex tumor diagnosis and treatment, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and development in the province.
The Shanxi Interventional Therapy Center will integrate high-quality medical and health resources and enhance the overall interventional therapy strength of the province.
Apart from the establishment of the ward and the three centers, the Radiotherapy Center at the Shanxi Cancer Hospital introduced the TOMO Therapy Hi-Art treatment system, which can significantly improve the precision radiotherapy and diagnosis capabilities for challenging cases and offer cancer patients more advanced and high-quality medical services.
In addition, the day saw the launch of the National Cancer Regional Medical Center Science Education Cultivation Fund. With an annual investment of over 10 million yuan ($1.40 million), the fund will strengthen the construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms in hospitals, expand talent cultivation channels, incubate excellent scientific research and teaching professionals, and comprehensively advance cancer prevention and treatment research.
