Nine listed companies from Shanxi province were included in the recently released 2023 Fortune China 500 list.

The list reflects the performance and achievements of the Chinese listed companies globally in the past year, primarily based on their 2022 annual revenue. The companies on the list each had annual revenue of around 23.7 billion yuan ($3.29 billion) at least. 

Among the listed companies from Shanxi, Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co ranked the highest at 140th with a revenue of 97.65 billion yuan in 2022, down two places compared to the 2022 list. However, Shanxi Coking Coal Group and Lu'an Green Energy Co benefited from a significant increase in revenue, ranking 207th and 239th, respectively.

Compared to the 2022 list, two additional Shanxi companies – Shanxi Fenjiu Group and Shanxi Meijin Energy Co – made it onto the 2023 list. 

The Shanxi-based enterprises in the 2023 rankings has demonstrated commendable financial viability on account of the progressive developments in the coal sector. Specifically, Lu'an Green Energy Co, Daqin Railway Co, and Shanxi Coking Coal Group have secured the 67th, 82nd, and 86th positions on the profit index, respectively, having raked in a substantial sum of 14.17 billion yuan, 11.20 billion yuan, and 10.72 billion yuan, correspondingly.
