The Shanxi section of the Xiongan-Xinzhou High-speed Railway is expected to be ready to commence operations by the end of March 2027, according to officials from China Railway Taiyuan Group Co.

Construction work on this section – which marks the first high-speed railway in Shanxi with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour – started on Oct 1, 2022.

The 342-km railway, which runs for around 122 km in Shanxi, departs from Xiongan Station on the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway and passes through Xiongan New Area and Baoding city in Hebei province, before entering Xinzhou city in Shanxi province.

The entire line will have 13 stations, including three newly constructed high-speed railway stations in Shanxi: Mount Wutai Station, Wutai County Station, and Dingxiang North Station.

Once the railway is operational, it will connect with the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway, Tianjin-Baoding Railway, and Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway, as well as the Beijing-Xiongan-Shangqiu High-speed Railway and the under-construction Jining-Datong-Yuanping High-speed Railway, creating a fast railway transportation channel that radiates throughout Shanxi and the whole country.

This will further improve the railway network structure in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, greatly facilitating travel for people along the line and promoting socioeconomic development in the region.
