Shanxi, Taiwan ink joint ventures totaling 10.86b yuan

An economic and trade exchange symposium between the city of Jincheng in North China's Shanxi province, overseas Chinese, and Taiwan was held on May 27.
Hosted by Shanxi Provincial Government, the symposium attracted more than 300 guests from home and abroad to discuss economic and trade cooperation.
Shanxi Investment Promotion Bureau, Jincheng municipal government, and Gaoping government made special presentations on key investment industries.
The vice-governor of Shanxi, Liu Yang, vice-governor of Shanxi, has stated that there has been a significant increase in economic and trade activities between Shanxi and Taiwan in recent years. Taiwan has become a major player for trade and investment target for Shanxi, and Taiwan businesspeople have also played a vital role in the economic growth of Shanxi.
Xue Mingyao, mayor of Jincheng, said that Jincheng has huge cooperation space in traditional advantageous industries such as energy, smelting, and casting, and strategic emerging industries such as optical, mechanical and electrical, coalbed methane, cultural tourism, and health care.
The event saw agreements on 30 projects with a total investment of 10.86 billion yuan ($1.54 billion) inked.
