Shanxi advances construction of Great Wall National Cultural Park

North China's Shanxi province recently held a meeting to arrange the construction of the Shanxi section of the Great Wall National Cultural Park. 

This year, Shanxi will protect and repair the Great Wall sections in the province, accelerate the construction of key projects, improve the construction of supporting facilities, accelerate the creation of cultural tourism products, explore the culture surrounding the Great Wall, and strengthen publicity and display. 

In terms of accelerating the construction of key projects, Shanxi will promote the construction of Yanmen Pass-Guangwu, Desheng fortress group-Datong Zhencheng, Laoniu Bay-Yajiao Mountain, Niangzi Pass-Guguan Pass, Pingxingguan, and Shahukou-Youwei Ancient City core exhibition parks, as well as the construction of 13 centralized exhibition belts, 20 characteristic display sites, 20 cultural and tourism integration areas and 95 traditional utilization areas of the Great Wall National Cultural Park (Shanxi section). 

As for improving the construction of supporting facilities, Shanxi plans to extend the length of the Great Wall No 1 tourist highway by 650 kilometers by the end of 2023 and speed up the construction of 5G base stations to achieve full network coverage along the highway.

The province will promote the overall economic, social, cultural and ecological development along the Great Wall through the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park, the Great Wall No 1 tourist highway, and home stay facilities along the highway, as well as through various Great-Wall-themed tourist products and services. 

It will also advance regular operation and introduction of performing arts projects related to the culture of the Great Wall.
