Members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from North China's Shanxi province recently arrived in Beijing to attend the 2023 sessions of the National People's Congress and the CPPCC National Committee in early March.

Among the CPPCC National Committee members to this year's two sessions, there are 23 from 17 CPPCC groups in Shanxi. Furthermore, there are 16 new CPPCC National Committee members from Shanxi among the national political advisers at this year's two sessions.

Before this year's session of the CPPCC National Committee which will start on March 4, the CPPCC National Committee members from the province conducted in-depth research and investigations on major topics in order to prepare their proposals.

These topics include accelerating transformation and development, accelerating the energy revolution, comprehensively deepening reform, and ensuring the improvement of people's livelihood. Other topics of note include promoting environmental protection, and improving rural governance within the province. Members also collected public opinions in preparation of the sessions.

Han Qinghua, a CPPCC National Committee member from the China Democratic League, has always paid attention to issues such as medical and health development and medical security. He will offer suggestions on promoting the development of cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment in Shanxi at this year's two sessions.

Strategies on how to promote the development of traditional Shanxi opera – a major provincial opera – and how to better pass down traditional arts in a contemporary and diversified cultural market is something that Miao Jie, another CPPCC National Committee member, plans to introduce. She will suggest that the State allocate practical artists when appointing professional teachers at Chinese opera academies.
