Shanxi invests billions in sci-tech research

North China's Shanxi province's expenditure on science and technology research and development increased 19.3 percent year-on-year to 25.19 billion yuan ($3.65 billion) in 2022.
The number of high-tech enterprises in the province increased 9.8 percent to 3,916 last year, while the turnover of technology contracts was 56.19 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.7 percent.
The Huairou Laboratory Shanxi Research Institute was also established, while the National Third-Generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Center (Shanxi) and Advanced Computing Taiyuan Center were successfully approved and put into operation.
The province invested 370 million yuan in funds to strengthen research on key technologies, focusing on its 10 key industrial chains and 10 professional industrial towns, and implementing 28 major scientific and technological projects and 130 key R&D projects.
