Uruguay-Shanxi art exhibition on display in Taiyuan

Officials of the Shanxi Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Uruguayan Embassy in China attended the online opening ceremony of an art exhibition featuring contemporary art from Uruguay and calligraphy and paintings made by Shanxi young people on Jan 10.

Li Yan, vice president of the association, addressed in his speech that since the establishment of friendly relations between North China's Shanxi province and Canelones in Uruguay 31 years ago, the two regions have carried out cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, sports, education and cultural tourism.

At the ceremony, the Shanxi Committee of the Communist Youth League of China presented calligraphy works made by adolescent Shanxi practitioners to the Uruguayan Embassy in China. The Shanxi Publishing Media Group donated books worth 10,000 yuan ($1,492.33) to Canelones, and the Taiyuan Library and the Uruguayan Embassy in China exchanged books with each other. 

The exhibition was jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shanxi Province, the Shanxi Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the Shanxi People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Uruguayan Embassy in China. 

More than 100 works by 30 Uruguayan artists, and calligraphy works and paintings by nearly 100 young people in Shanxi are exhibited in Taiyuan.
