The 13th Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) – the top political advisory body in North China's Shanxi province – started its first session on Jan 11 in the provincial capital Taiyuan.

The opening conference was attended by 488 political advisers, including Li Zhengyin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC Shanxi Committee.

Li delivered the 12th CPPCC Shanxi Committee's work report at the session, reviewing the efforts and achievements over the past five years, and then setting out the work plan for the future.

Xi Xiaojun, another vice-chairman of the CPPCC Shanxi Committee, reported on the handling of proposals from members of the 12th CPPCC Shanxi Committee at the conference.

Some 5,677 proposals from individuals, political parties and various organizations have been collected since the first session of the 12th CPPCC Shanxi Committee in January 2018, said Xi.

Among the proposals, 4,838 were put on record for further discussion and implementation. These proposals reflected opinions and suggestions of people in Shanxi, and they also fully expressed the wishes and voices of the society.
