The 27th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanxi Committee approved of 549 new members for the 13th CPPCC Shanxi Committee on Jan 8.

The members include leading figures in the fields of economics, science and technology, culture, education, medicine and health, as well as representatives of other social strata such as lawyers and appraisers.

New members generally have good ideological and political literacy, a well-rounded foundation and strong desire and ability to participate in and discuss State and provincial affairs. New and potential members should also strictly abide laws, and have a good social image.
