Two sites in Shanxi province were recently recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as national industrial tourism demonstration bases. 

The two sites are Jinhuagong Underground Exploration scenic area in Yungang district in the city of Datong and Liuweizhai Yunmengwu scenic area in Qingxu county in the city of Taiyuan. 

Jinhuagong Underground Exploration scenic area includes a coal museum, a visiting area of industrial relics, Jinyang Pool, and Shitou village, which integrates sightseeing, coal science education, adventure, and environmental protection services. 

Visitors can wear mining suits equipped with mining lights and take a mining cart to experience what mining is like at a depth of 300 meters.

Liuweizhai Yunmengwu scenic area consists of Yunmengwu Creative Landscape Park, a historical and cultural exhibition hall, and a production workshop, creating a perfect combination of traditional Chinese food culture and modern craftsmanship by showcasing the traditional production method of the time-honored Liuweizhai braised pork with sauce. 

Shanxi boasts many industry-related tourist attractions and was one of the first provinces in the country to develop industrial tourism.

In recent years, the province has been exploring the viability of industrial tourist attraction and has developed industrial tourism products, programs and travel routes in order to promote the standardized development and upgrading of industrial tourism.
