The consumer goods industry involves all aspects of people's lives. Over the past 10 years, the whole industry and information technology system of North China's Shanxi province has worked harder to improve the quality and efficiency of the industry, raise the effective supply capability of consumer goods, and satisfy the increasing needs of consumers.

Against the backdrop of normalized pandemic prevention and control, Shanxi registered over 100 billion yuan ($13.83 billion) in main business revenue in the consumer goods industry last year, up 17.4 percent year-on-year, with profits growing by 132.7 percent.

The consumer goods industry development plan for Shanxi province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) that was issued recently stated that by the end of 2025, the province's main business revenue of the consumer goods industry is expected to exceed 115 billion yuan, with the annual growth rate to be kept at 5 percent.

In addition, by then, Shanxi will strive to become home to five companies worth 5 billion yuan, 10 companies worth 1 to 5 billion yuan, and 10 products with sales worth 1 billion yuan or above annually. At the same time, the province will seek to cultivate two or more national-level and 15 or more provincial-level corporate technology centers.

Special industrial clusters manufacturing white wine, vinegar, porcelain, and glass will be further developed in Shanxi to form a more competent modern industrial system.
