The Shanxi Department of Commerce and the Shanxi Development and Reform Commission in North China's Shanxi province recently released a special plan for opening and cooperation in the Yellow River basin.

The plan proposes goals for 2025 and long-term targets until 2035.

By 2025, significant progress will be made in the participation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yellow River basin will play a more prominent role in opening-up to the outside world, and the China (Shanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone will be successfully applied. By 2035, a new system for a higher-level open economy will be built in a comprehensive way in Shanxi.

The plan clarifies major future tasks such as in-depth participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, integrating into major national regional strategies, strengthening exchanges and cooperation with provinces and regions along the Yellow River, building more high-level open cooperation and exchange platforms, and promoting high-quality investment.

Shanxi will accelerate the expansion of its production capacity into the international market and increase the international market share of its top products.

The province will integrate into the international logistics network and further cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN member countries on aviation and railway ports to build an international cargo transport hub.

It will also improve its economic and trade cooperation platforms and use the Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour as a platform to help the province's industries, products, culture and tourism spread overseas.

To strengthen exchanges and cooperation with provinces along the Yellow River, Shanxi will build the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone, accelerate the development of urban agglomeration in central Shanxi, and build an important corridor for Shanxi to integrate into the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and serve the Xiongan New Area.
