Central Shanxi urban cluster to improve transport interconnection
Updated: 2022-08-25
The General Office of the Shanxi Provincial Government recently announced a special plan for the interconnection of transport infrastructure in the central Shanxi urban agglomeration.
The plan covers the five prefectural-level cities of Taiyuan, Xinzhou, Lyuliang, Jinzhong and Yangquan, and proposes a goal of forming a 2-hour traffic circle among these cities.
Construction will focus on transport infrastructure in the Taiyuan metropolitan area. A transport infrastructure interconnection network spanning Taiyuan, Yuci district and Taigu district of Jinzhong, the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone and the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone will be built.
In the near future, priority will be given to the construction of key regional passages such as the Xiongan-Xinzhou High-speed Railway, the Jining-Datong-Yuanping High-speed Railway, and the first phase of the Taiyuan railway hub west ring line.
The province will further the construction of comprehensive transportation channels for smooth internal and external connections in the urban agglomeration of central Shanxi.
With high-speed railways, highways, civil airports, and national and provincial trunk highways, Shanxi will integrate its central urban agglomeration into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Xiongan New Area, and connect with the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration, and the Central Plain urban agglomeration.
