Taiyuan and Linfen in North China's Shanxi province have been included among 60 national key cities for the construction of a recycling system jointly announced by the central government's ministries and commissions.

The two cities will enhance their recycling network system, improve the sorting, processing and utilization of renewable resources, and promote the development of a second-hand commodity trading and remanufacturing industry.

Shanxi is a major province for recycling and the utilization of waste, and its production and utilization rank among the top in the country.

In recent years, Shanxi has boosted its circular economy, and its recycling capacity has been significantly enhanced.

The province has started the construction of demonstration cities for recycling both waste and used items with the goal of all cities building a complete recycling system for waste by 2025.

It has promoted a reasonable layout of recycling sites, strengthened the standardized construction of garbage sorting centers, built and upgraded green sorting centers, improved the specialization and standardization of recycling, and enhanced informatization in the recycling industry.

Shanxi has also developed second-hand commodity trading and remanufacturing industries and improved the second-hand commodity trading management system.

To improve the informatization of the recycling industry, the province will support the development of an online recycling platform and encourage recycling enterprises to use modern information technologies to build a full-chain business information platform and recycling traceability system.
