The Great Wall Judicial Protection Center was recently established at the foot of the Great Wall in Youyu county, North China's Shanxi province.

The center was jointly established by the Shanxi Provincial High People's Court, Shuozhou Municipal Intermediate People's Court, and Youyu County People's Court. It is the first specialized judicial protection center for the Great Wall in Shanxi.

The center will be committed to developing a protection platform that integrates environmental protection efforts, legal publicity, environmental protection education, ecological restoration, and volunteer services, as well as promoting the protection and utilization of cultural relics related to the Great Wall and other cultural heritage items.

The Great Wall sections in Youyu county were built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and extend about 84.3 kilometers. In November 2020, the Erbianduan section of the Great Wall in the county was identified as one of the important sections of the Great Wall by the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
