North China's Shanxi province will build a modern industrial system that supports the high-quality development and has core competitiveness with Shanxi characteristics by focusing on 10 key industrial chains. 

The 10 key industrial chains involve special steel materials, new energy vehicles, high-end equipment manufacturing, wind power equipment, hydrogen energy, aluminum and magnesium deep processing, photovoltaics, modern medicine, third-generation semiconductors, and synthetic biology sectors.

According to the Shanxi Department of Industry and Information Technology, Shanxi has identified 20 leading enterprises in the 10 industrial chains and 441 enterprises engaged in the development of these chains, according to enterprises' market competitiveness, industrial influence and development willingness.

By 2025, Shanxi hope the 10 industrial chains will generate 840 billion yuan ($125.61 billion) in revenue, six of which should reach 100 billion yuan and four of which should reach 50 billion yuan in revenue.

This year, the province will focus on promoting 82 related industrial chain projects with a total investment of 96.9 billion yuan, of which 49 projects are scheduled to be put into production this year.
