China Unicom, one of the nation's big telcos, recently announced the establishment of smart mining corporations in Shanxi – in a bid to transform and upgrade the traditional mining industry in the province in northern China. 

China Unicom is expected to quickly gather skilled personnel to provide intelligent solutions and specialized new products in Shanxi.

The focus will be on safe, efficient and unmanned mining by means of big data, the industrial internet, artificial intelligence, robots and intelligent equipment based on the 5G private network. 

In the future, China Union's smart mining corporations will develop an overarching intelligent mining model.

This will feature comprehensive perceptions, interconnections, self-learning, dynamic predictions and collaborative controls – so as to accelerate the wide-ranging digital transformation of Shanxi's mining sector.
