The Symposium on Sorghum Industry Development of China-Pakistan was held online and offline in Jinzhong, North China's Shanxi province, on March 25.

The symposium was co-hosted by the Belt and Road International Sorghum Industry Science and Technology Innovation Institute, Sorghum Research Institute of Shanxi Agricultural University, and National Sorghum Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance.

The main offline venue was set at Shanxi Agricultural University, while 103 officials, experts and business representatives from China and Pakistan attended the symposium online. The live broadcast of the event received 120,900 views.

Local Pakistani officials, scientific research institutes, and business representatives discussed the importance of the country's agriculture and the adaptability test of sorghum varieties, planting advantages, talent exchange and cooperation, and training. They expressed hopes of strengthening cooperation with China to promote the healthy development of the sorghum industry.

Representatives of Shanxi province made reports and carried out in-depth discussions on the research and development status of Chinese sorghum varieties, talent exchange and training at the Belt and Road International Sorghum Industry Science and Technology Innovation Institute, as well as China-Pakistan high-quality brewing sorghum cooperation.

The event proposed a detailed cooperation plan to better understand Pakistan's sorghum industrial policy, development and technical shortcomings, clarified the direction and goals of sorghum breeding and variety selection in business matchmaking with relevant Pakistani agricultural enterprises.

It also provided an international platform for the training and exchange of sorghum-related talent in the two countries, and for cooperation concerning China's sorghum industrial development.
