Shanxi province's members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) recently submitted a proposal to the CPPCC National Committee suggesting that the State provide policy and financial support for the construction of the Yellow River National Cultural Park in Shanxi.
North China's Shanxi province is suitable for the building of the Yellow River National Cultural Park due to its vast area and advantageous location, rich cultural heritage, strong heritage protection, and flourishing cultural tourism.
However, several problems have prevented the development of the Yellow River National Cultural Park.
Infrastructure in the Yellow River basin in Shanxi is lacking, public service supply capacity is insufficient, and regional development is unbalanced and insufficient.
The contradiction between the protection and utilization of cultural relics and cultural resources and the lack of human and financial resources is very conspicuous.
Shanxi lacks specialists in protection and inheritance and popular products that can fully embody the culture of the Yellow River. It also cannot make full use of modern science and technology in the utilization of cultural relics and cultural tourism.
Thus, CPPCC National Committee members from Shanxi proposed that the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Cultural and Tourism build a national investment and financing support platform for the construction of the Yellow River National Cultural Park, helping enterprises solve financing problems and improving the multi-investment mechanism for the construction of the park.
They urged the Ministry of Natural Resources to support the construction of facilities for the protection and utilization of the Taosi relic site and the land security of the Taosi Archaeological Site Park.
These national political advisers also called upon the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other related ministries and commissions to establish and improve a national Yellow River cultural research institute and other related regional research institutes, and organize various inter-regional cooperation and exchange events themed around major cultural heritage protection and Yellow River cultural systematic research.
