The Shanxi Department of Education will implement 10 major efforts this year to promote the quality, efficiency and speed of education reform and development, according to a provincial education work meeting on Feb 23. 

Efforts include improvements to the quality and balance of basic education, adaptability of vocational education, innovative development of higher education, teaching staff team-building, and the digital transformation of education.

For instance, the province will renovate and expand 100 public kindergartens, construct and renovate 500 boarding schools, and build five special education schools and six special education resource centers. 

It will also speed up the improvement of high schools in counties, reduce urban-rural and inter-school school disparities, and improve basic public services in education.
