North China's Shanxi province recently issued entitlement standards for a list of research and development institutions benefiting from national import tax policies to support scientific and technological innovation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

There are four types of R&D institutions that can benefit from the import tax policy.

They include provincial and prefecture city-level scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions mainly engaged in scientific R&D during scientific and technological system reform, scientific and technological private non-enterprise social R&D institutions engaged in scientific research activities that meet certain requirements, and social public R&D institutions jointly recognized by the Shanxi Department of Science and Technology and the provincial taxation, finance, civil affairs and customs departments.

The standards are valid until the end of 2025 and are expected to optimize the innovation environment in Shanxi.
