Shanxi province performed well in terms of fiscal revenue and expenditures in 2021, according to the Shanxi Finance Department.

The province's general public budget revenue increased 23.4 percent year-on-year to 283.46 billion yuan ($44.55 billion) due to upward economic development and the rise in coal and steel commodity prices. 

General public budget expenditures reached 504.81 billion yuan, guaranteeing funding for pensions, living security, employment, education, housing, finance, epidemic prevention and control, disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction.

The provincial finance authority expects that the province's fiscal revenue will maintain slow growth in the current year, and the expenditure structure will be further optimized to better serve the province's comprehensive high-quality development.
