The number of research and development personnel in North China's Shanxi province has continued to increase, according to Shanxi Statistics Bureau on Oct 22. 

Statistics show that in 2020, the total number of scientific research and experimental development personnel in the province reached 89,000, an increase of 11.5 percent year-on-year. There were 51 R&D personnel for every 10,000 employees. 

Among R&D personnel, the number of people with a master's degree or above was 25,000, an increase of 3,000 over 2019, and their proportion of the total was 28.5 percent, up 0.4 percent year-on-year.
