The Chinese team defeated the Iranian team with a score of 45:25 and won the taekwondo mixed doubles team exhibition final at the Tokyo Olympics on July 27.

As a member of the Chinese team, Tang Hao, an athlete from North China's Shanxi province, made his first appearance at the Olympic Games and was one of the main scorers of the Chinese team in the exhibition final.

Early in August 2019, Tang and his teammates won an "admission ticket" to the taekwondo mixed team exhibition match of the Tokyo Olympics during the World Taekwondo World Cup Championships held in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.

Prior to this, Tang had performed impressively in individual taekwondo events. In the first and third stops of the 2019 National Taekwondo Championship Series, he won first place in the men's -80kg class.

Tang was awarded the annual sports medal of honor by the China General Administration of Sport in 2019.

Five countries participated in the taekwondo mixed doubles team exhibition competition at the Tokyo Olympics, namely China, Japan, Russia, Iran, and Côte d'Ivoire.
