Africans seek poverty alleviation know-how in Shanxi

A group of 14 outstanding young entrepreneurs and overseas student representatives from 13 African countries participated on July 13-17 in a tour of Xingxian county in North China's Shanxi province, in a bid to boost their know-how of tackling poverty back home. 

The event was sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and organized by the Shanxi Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. It was themed around China's poverty alleviation and development in the eyes of foreigners.

The visitors toured the Jinsui Revolutionary Memorial Hall, Shahao village, 120 Division School and Liuyegou Community Convenience Service Center in Caijiaya township in Xingxian county, and sold farm produce together with local farmers through livestreaming.

They witnessed the effective practices of accelerating rural revitalization in Xingxian, gaining a further understanding of China's grassroots governance experience and the people-oriented governance concept of the Communist Party of China.

During the event, the African visitors also participated in the Seminar on Poverty Alleviation and Development for China-Africa Future Leaders. 

At the event, they shared opinions with Shanxi province's outstanding cadres engaged in poverty alleviation on such topics as the practice of eliminating poverty in China, the power of youth in the cause of poverty alleviation and suggestions for future China-Africa cooperation on poverty alleviation.
