Expo yields hundreds of investment projects

The 12th Expo Central China -- held in North China's Shanxi province on May 21-23 -- yielded some bumper results.
Six provinces in Central China -- Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangxi and Hunan -- signed 433 projects in total at the three-day expo.
The projects involved new energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, new generation information technology, modern service, agriculture, cultural tourism, high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine and health, as well as general aviation sectors.
Among the contracted projects were 25 foreign-funded projects, with a total investment of $1.96 billion. As the host, Shanxi signed eight foreign-funded projects worth $1.19 billion.
In terms of transactions conducted during the expo, Shanxi's foreign trade turnover reached $13.37 million and domestic trade sales came in at 2.41 billion yuan ($377.42 million).
