An online event between Shanxi province and Utah in the United States was held on April 23 to promote China and North China's Shanxi province.

The event was initiated by Utah's government and sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanxi Provincial Government.

The event aimed to promote local cultural cooperation and exchanges between China and the United States and promote the development of friendly relations between Shanxi and Utah.

Participants in the online event included officials from the Shanxi Development and Reform Commission, Shanxi Provincial Department of Education, Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism and Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, along with representatives of Shanxi University, Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group Co, Shanxi International Energy Group and Yungang Grottoes Research Institute, as well as those from Utah's government and the University of Utah. 

During the event, Shanxi's attendees demonstrated the province's profound historical and cultural heritage and its strong development trend as a pilot reform area for the transformation of China's resource-based economy. Particular focus was placed on Shanxi's experience in responding to climate change, energy conservation and emissions reduction, and the transformation and development of coal enterprises.
